About
Interior designers calls it a "personality piece" while we simply call it a "conversation piece". All of our work is created by using a tool called a Plasma Cutter. This machine has laser precision and can make literally, anything out of steel.
So what is a CNC Plasma Cutter?
Kurt says:
A gem of a tool who's capabilities are endless when making custom created steel products. A little baby that needs lots of love and attention.
Stacy says:
A large tool that looks complicated. Smokes up the garage and scares the dog.
Officially:
Plasma cutting is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses (or sometimes other materials) using plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas (in some units, compressed air) is blown at high speed out of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from the cut.
What can you make from tool?
The possibilities are endless. Take a moment to Google, "metal art" and you will be amazed at what can be turned into metal art. We can cut shapes, letters, figures, numbers...you name it.
Regardless of what we us, suffice it to say it is one active machine that cuts with precision and can literally make...anything. So please, we invite you to take a look around to take a peak.
Our inventory at Ferrum Studios changes daily which is quite interesting. One day we can create silhouettes of greyhound dogs while another day will bring orders of "No Soliciting" signs with aliens. Today we are working on a custom address sign filled with intricate fighting elk and this week we are expecting an order of two 4 ft bears that will be welded onto a gate...never a dull moment.
To give you an idea of how what we have created so far, take a look below:
You will notice we do not specialize in any particular type of product rather we prefer the creative element per piece. We do have the capability to mass produce and are happy to do so. If you needed 100 steel ornaments in the shape of snowflakes, we can do that. If you needed one snowflake to measure 4 x 8, we can do that too.
If you are new to the idea of a CNC plasma cutter, it can feel overwhelming because there is so many options. What size, what color, where will I put it, what font would look best...we've heard it all. We invite you to call Kurt or Stacy directly to talk through your vision. We too enjoy the convenience of email (you're welcome to use) but call us old fashion...we like talking on the phone.

- Address signs
- No soliciting signs
- Aspen leaves
- Ranch signs
- Animal silhouettes
- Quotes
- Custom car pieces (gussets, shock tab mounts, shock towers, etc)
- Front grill design for 1929 Model A Ford (...because I know you need that)
